It was a big night for Loewe. First off, they were a sponsor of the Met Gala. (The day started off with Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson giving remarks at a press preview for the “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion.”)
Secondly, the brand was responsible for some of the best red carpet looks of the night, dressing Anna Wintour, Taylor Russell, Ariana Grande (in “the favorite thing” she’s ever worn), Josh O’Connor, Greta Lee, Jamie Dornan, Ayo Edebiri, Mike Faist, Alison Oliver, Dan Levy, Ambika Mod, Luca Guadagnino, Jonathan Bailey, Omar Apollo, and Lauren Santo Domingo.
And last but not least, they hosted one of the best after-parties of the night! Down in Nolita, Luca Guadagnino and Loewe co-hosted a party (Loewe did the costumes for the Italian auteur’s latest film with Zendaya, Challengers). Needless to say, the stage was set for a superb night.
Arriving at the party, guests instantly knew they were at a Guadagnino-hosted fete. All three Challengers stars were present and accounted for. Zendaya, a co-host of the Met Gala, hung by the DJ booth in her third outfit change of the night (now she was in a columnar slate-grey gown, custom by Loewe) with Law Roach nearby. Mike Faist was also in the room with Josh O’Connor, but it was really the dance floor where things were most exciting.
Handsome waitstaff circulated with burgers and French fries packed in sleeves bearing the Loewe anagram logos. In banquettes, little arrangements of lollipops were placed where you’d expect to find florals—a wink to The Garden of Time? Anderson, who ditched his Loewe suit for a simple tee was holding court, making his way from group to group for a proper welcome.
And the music? As good as the Challengers soundtrack. Phoebe Dynevor, who also swapped her look (she wore the first-ever Victoria Beckham dress to the Met Gala), was now in a black mini, which allowed her to move freely on the dance floor. Jonathan Bailey was nearby and also grooving to the tunes.
On a night when there are more than a dozen (really!) after-parties, ensuring yours is the one to go to is quite the feat. Though it was really not a concern for this party. Consider it a challenge accepted and a challenge defeated!
